
Sandra Florian, post-doctoral fellow of the School of Arts and Sciences, was recently interviewed by Penn Today about her research on “motherhood penalty”. Maternity leave causes only a short absence, but becoming a mother can have unfair and long-lasting effects on a woman’s career, reducing wages 5-10 percent per child compared to women who do not have children.
