Penn Today highlights a new study published in the journal Cell co-authored by research associate Sarah Tishkoff which sequenced the genomes of 180 individuals from 12 African indigenous groups and performed a rigorous whole-genome analysis of genetically diverse mix of African populations. The results shed light on the origin of modern humans, African population history, and local adaptation.
